Core Web Vitals
Google's user-experience metrics: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS).
Core Web Vitals are page-experience metrics Google uses as a ranking signal. LCP measures loading speed, INP (which replaced FID in 2024) measures interactivity, and CLS measures visual stability.
Targets for "good": LCP under 2.5s, INP under 200ms, CLS under 0.1. Sites measurably exceeding these targets see ranking improvements; sites failing them see ranking penalties on mobile-first results.
