FAQ Schema

Schema.org structured data marking up a list of questions and answers. Google retired FAQ rich results in 2026; the markup now serves AI citation and engine understanding, not search-result snippets.

FAQ schema (FAQPage type) marks up sections of a page where questions and their answers are presented.

Google has fully retired FAQ rich results. After restricting them to authoritative government and health sites in 2023, Google stopped showing FAQ rich results for all sites on May 7 2026 and removed the FAQ documentation, the FAQ search-appearance filter, and the Rich Results Test support in June 2026. FAQPage markup no longer produces a rich snippet for any site, so do not add it expecting a search-result dropdown.

Keep FAQPage markup anyway for a different reason: it still helps search engines and AI answer engines (AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) understand and cite the page's questions and answers. Use it for AI visibility, not for SERP rich results.
