Structured Data

Any standardized format for providing information about a page so that engines can categorize and present it more accurately.

Structured data is the broader category that includes schema.org markup, Open Graph, Twitter Cards, microdata, and RDFa. For SEO and AEO purposes, schema.org JSON-LD is the dominant format.

Pages with structured data are easier for AI engines to ground on because the engine has explicit facts (business category, hours, address, ratings) instead of having to infer from prose.
