Meta Description

The HTML meta tag describing a page, often shown as the snippet beneath the title in search results.

Meta descriptions are not a direct ranking factor but they strongly affect clickthrough rate. A compelling, specific description draws clicks; a generic one loses them to competitors.

Good meta descriptions are 140–160 characters, include the primary query, name what the page actually delivers, and have a clear value proposition. Avoid keyword stuffing.
