GBP Categories
The primary and secondary categories assigned to a Google Business Profile, controlling which queries the business is eligible to rank for.
GBP categories are the single highest-impact GBP setting. The primary category should match the highest-priority query the business wants to win. Secondary categories expand eligibility to related queries.
Most operators set categories once and never revisit. Strong competitors use 8 to 10 secondary categories, all directly relevant. Mismatched primary categories block the business from winning the queries that matter.
