Sitemap

An XML file listing the URLs on a site to help search engines discover and prioritize them for crawling.

Sitemaps live at `/sitemap.xml` (or any URL referenced from robots.txt). For sites with thousands of pages, a sitemap index file points to multiple sub-sitemaps, each containing up to 50,000 URLs.

Sitemaps include lastmod dates that signal when content was updated. Engines use these to prioritize re-crawling.
