Citability

How likely an AI engine is to cite a specific page or business when answering a query — a function of structure, content specificity, and entity confidence.

Citability is the GEO equivalent of "rankability." A page is citable when an AI engine can confidently extract a quote or fact from it that matches the query. Citability factors include named entities in the text, schema markup, content depth, content specificity, and the entity's broader citation density across the web.

Pages that score well for citability also tend to score well for traditional ranking, but the inverse is not always true. A page can rank well on backlinks alone while being low-citability because the content is generic.
